Lots of May water resources activity in Congress!
The Water Resources Development Act of 2018 is about to get legislative legs. This is the legislation that authorizes (but doesn’t provide funding for) new Corps projects and studies and also will likely contain new policy initiatives.
Senate WRDA: The Senate Environment and Public Works Committee has scheduled a May 7th hearing on its yet-to-be-made-public WRDA 2018 legislation. We expect the committee leadership to release the draft by tomorrow. To keep track of the latest developments, click here. This is a public hearing only, but we expect the Committee to act on a final version of its bill before Memorial Day. The measure has been dubbed America's Water Infrastructure Act of 2018.
House WRDA: We hear that the House Transportation & Infrastructure Committee will be coming up with its own WRDA18 bill within a matter of days. So far, the committee has not released any information about its plans but we expect it to vote on a bill by the end of this month.
House Appropriations: The House Appropriations Subcommittee on Energy and Water will vote on its proposal for the Corps’ Fiscal 2019 budget this coming Monday. Click here to watch.
